Cambodian Students Pursuing Education in U.S. on the Rise

AKP Phnom Penh, November 21, 2020 —

The number of Cambodian students pursuing education in the U.S. is notably increasing, especially in the current academic year, according to a recent press release from the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia.

For 2019-2020 academic years, there are 742 Cambodian students, indicating 8.3 percent increase, studying in U.S. universities – added the source citing the figure from the Open Doors report.

The positive trend has been going on for the last five years, and H.E. W. Patrick Murphy encourages more Cambodian students to explore the pursuance of their education in the U.S. through resource centres in the Kingdom, such as the Education Cambodia and the Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia.

The U.S., underlined H.E. W. Patrick Murphy, is the top education destination of students across the world, and for the academic years 2019-2020 alone it hosts about one million international students.

The U.S. is also happy that Cambodian students see the true value of university education in the country, and they will contribute to fostering cooperation between the two nations, added the Ambassador.
