Cambodia, the Chair of SOMRI WG on Information, Media and Training for 2020-2022

Cambodia became the Chair of the Working Group on Information, Media and Training of the Senior Officials Meeting Responsible for Information (SOMRI) for the period 2020-2022.
According to H.E. Has Sam Ath, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, Vice Chair of SOMRI and Chairman of National ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI), Cambodia automatically became the Chair of SOMRI WG on Information, Media and Training after voluntarily taking the Vice Chairmanship in the previous term.
As the Chair, Cambodia will host meetings at least once a year and coordinate all works with ASEC (ASEAN Secretariat) between meetings, he said.
Cambodia is planning to organise an online meeting at the end of this year or early next year as Cambodia will be the admin of online zoom app, he added.
H.E. Has Sam Ath hoped that Indonesia will take up the post of Vice Chair of SOMRI WG on Information, Media and Training.
At the same time, Vietnam has been appointed Chair of SOMRI WG on ASEAN Digital Broadcasting while Brunei Chair of SOMRI WG on Content and Production for the same period.
The former Chair of SOMRI WG on Information, Media and Training was the Philippines.
The Vice Chairmanship (as well as the Chairmanship) of the WGs are on voluntary basis. If there is no volunteers, the next Chairmanship shall follow the standard alphabetical rotation.
