Cambodia continues to send 73 blue barrettes troops to South Sudan on humanitarian mission

While the world is facing a crisis caused by COVID-19, Cambodia remained committed to sending its blue barrette forces to participate in peacekeeping operation under the United Nations umbrella.

73 members of the 186th Gendarmerie, including 28 women, were sent to South Sudan to replace the 861th Gendarmerie, which was to complete its mission and return home on October 27, 2020.

The farewell ceremony was presided over by General Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Center for Peacekeeping Forces Management, Demining and Remnants of War at the Airport on October 25, 2020.

General Sem Sovanny said that the Cambodian blue barrettes have been very active in carrying   out their humanitarian missions under the United Nations umbrella.


General Sem Sovanny also reminded all officers who are doing humanitarian missions abroad, to take care of their health, follow the instructions of the Ministry of Health, the instructions of UN officials in the area of ​​fulfilling their mission and the instructions of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Ministry of National Defense on measures to prevent and prevent Covid-19 disease.

General Sem Sovanny also instructed the Gendarmerie on missions abroad to preserve the beautiful traditions of Cambodia to enhance the honor of Cambodia on the international stage.

Since 2006, Cambodia has sent nearly 5,000 troops, including more than 200 women, to participate in UN missions.
