The ministry’s Tourism Safety measures against COVID-19 such as temperature screening, hand washing and visitor registration have been well carried out by tourism destinations, anyway facemask wearing among visitors and safety distancing at crowded tourism sites were not fully implemented, it added.
The ministry also expressed its concern over the garbage issue, which remains a complicated problem at some tourism destinations.
“Overall, local people and private sector have shown their delight with the flow of tourists at all tourism destinations while their expenses went directly to the local economic currents,” underlined the report.
The five-day holiday has been allowed by Royal Government of Cambodia to compensate the Khmer New Year holiday in mid-April, postponed in order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
