Cambodia, Timor-Leste Vow to Cooperate in Developing Labour Sector

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste have pledged to strengthen their cooperation in the labour sector development after the end of the COVID-19 crisis.
The promise was made by Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training H.E. Ith Samheng and Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Cambodia H.E. Ermenegildo “Kupa” Lopes during their meeting here this morning.
Both countries signed an agreement on labour cooperation on Aug. 19, 2016, focusing on the exchange of training programmes, visits of concerned officials, and related information to prevent illegal recruitment and use of migrant workers as well as to combat labour exploitation and human trafficking.
H.E. Ith Samheng expressed warm welcome to H.E. Ermenegildo “Kupa” Lopes’ diplomatic mission in Cambodia and lauded the good relationship between the two countries and peoples.
For his part, H.E. Ermenegildo “Kupa” Lopes spoke highly of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s Win-Win policy which has brought about national unification, peace and development in all domains to Cambodia.
The new diplomat thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for its support to the candidacy of Timor-Leste in the ASEAN framework and was committed to do his best to tighten the relations between both countries.
