Cambodia to Attend ASEAN-U.S. Special Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on COVID-19 via Videoconference Tomorrow

Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn will participate in the ASEAN-United States Special Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on COVID-19 via Videoconference.

The Special Meeting will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on April 23, at 08:00AM, according to the ministry’s press release made public this morning.

This meeting was initially proposed by the United States of America during the ASEAN-U.S. High-Level Interagency Videoconference on Public Health Emergencies conducted by ASEAN Secretariat on April 1, 2020, it added.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Honorable Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo will exchange views and discuss ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between ASEAN and the U.S. to collectively combat against COVID-19 pandemic within the framework of the ASEAN-U.S. Strategic Partnership, said the same source, continuing that the discussion will also focus on actions to address public health emergencies of international concern, and the bolstering of regional public health systems in the long run.

The Videoconference will mark a new milestone in ASEAN-U.S. Strategic Dialogue Relations for long-term collaboration and cooperation on public health amidst unprecedented global challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, underlined the press release.
