‘Active Rest’ of Cambodian Athletes for SEA Games 2023 Urged

AKP Phnom Penh, April 07, 2020 —

Management of Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee has urged participating Cambodian athletes to be active at home while banned from joint training gathering in fear of COVID-19 contraction.

Representing the committee, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) H.E. Vath Chamroeun made the call, adding that the ‘active rest’ will continue keeping Cambodian athletes ready for the 2023 SEA Games challenge.

If threat of COVID-19 takes long, he added, Cambodian athletes will possibly resume joint training in 2021.

If it will be over in the next one or two months, joint training will begin immediately after that, he continued.

According to the secretary general, although athletes are allowed to break, the construction of the new stadium and its facilities to support the SEA Games still continue.

He also expressed his confidence on the government’s control and management of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and was positive of Cambodian team’s performance for the in-coming SEA Games.
