Cambodian Tourism Minister Seeks U.S.’ Support for Tourism Development in Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, March 31, 2020 —

Cambodia has asked the United States to support activities in favour of Cambodian tourism through the ecotourism development project and Prey Lang programme.

Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon made the proposal during a meeting here yesterday afternoon with U.S. Ambassador H.E. W. Patrick Murphy.

H.E. Minister also requested the U.S. side to help promote Cambodian tourism in its market and boost American investments in Cambodia’s tourism sector.

For his part, H.E. W. Patrick Murphy accepted the requests, saying that the U.S. will continue to participate in activities to develop tourism and ecotourism areas around the Tonle Sap Great Lake.

Cambodia welcomed 6.6 million foreign visitors in 2019, of them more than 260,000 were Americans.
