FAO-backed Projects on Agricultural Development in Cambodia Unveiled

AKP Phnom Penh, March 19, 2020 —

Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has unveiled its development projects on enhancing agricultural sector in Cambodia for 2019-2023.

The projects were shared in a meeting held here on Mar. 18 between H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and Mr. Alexandre Huynh, FAO Country Representative in Cambodia.

There are two projects worth US$14.3 million to be implemented, one focuses on adaptation and resilience to climate change for fishery communities along Cambodia’s bay and the other on enhancement of capacity and livelihood of rice farmers in Tonle Sap area being affected by climate change.

For his part, H.E. Veng Sakhon expressed profound thanks to FAO for its assistance and support for Cambodia’s agricultural sector.

H.E. Minister also asked FAO to help enhancing the dairy cow raising in Cambodia.
