DPM Prak Sokhonn to Attend Two Important Meetings in Laos Next Week

AKP Phnom Penh, February 15, 2020 —

H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will lead a delegation to attend the 5th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (COVID-19) in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on Feb. 19-20.

The participation in the two meetings will be made at the invitation of H.E. Saleumxay Kommasith, Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs, pointed out a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued this morning.

According to the same source, the 5th MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, to be attended by Foreign Ministers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam and China, will review the progress made since the 4th MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in December 2018, set future direction of the MLC toward sustainable development, and prepare for the 3rd MLC Leaders’ Meeting in the near future.

The Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on COVID-19 will discuss and exchange views on effective ways and new findings to combat the spread of the COVID-19, during which H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn will also share about Cambodia’s latest information of COVID-19 as well as the measures taken to counter the spread of COVID-19 in Cambodia.

The participation of H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn in the above meetings will not only strengthen the solidarity and cooperation at this critical time of global health threat, but also demonstrate Cambodia’s support to and confidence in all necessary measures taken by the Chinese government to combat the spread of the COVID-19.
