Head of Royal Government Urges for More Enhancement of People with Disabilities’ Rights

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has addressed a message to his compatriots on the official launch of the National Disability Strategic Plan 2019-2023, as well as on the commemoration of the National and International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
In his message, the Premier called on all stakeholders to jointly protect the rights, defend the interests, and prevent, reduce and eliminate discrimination against the people with disabilities.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen hailed the recent achievements attained by the country in disability sector over the past five years, and added that the Royal Government of Cambodia has put forward a national development policy with a commitment to continue maintaining peace, political stability, national security and economic growth based on the independence, territorial integrity, democracy and human rights respect.
The rights of persons with disabilities are protected by national and international laws, and the Royal Government of Cambodia has spent significant amount of state budget to promote disability sector in the country so as to assist the people with disabilities and their families to have a better quality of life, without discrimination, to get access to quality social and public services, including to promote their participation in all kinds of social activities, he underlined.
To ensure the inclusiveness and equity for the persons with disabilities, the Royal Government of Cambodia has set forth the National Disability Strategic Plan 2019-2023 with the aim of eliminating all forms of exploitation and discrimination against the persons with disabilities, he said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also took the opportunity to give some recommendations to further enhance the rights and improve the living standard of the people with disabilities.
