Cambodia To Host 26th Meeting of MRC Council
AKP Phnom Penh, November 22, 2019 —
The water and environment ministers of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam, members of diplomatic corps, representatives from Mekong River Committee (MRC)’s donors, CEO of MRC Secretariat and staff will join the 26th Meeting of MRC Council in Cambodia next week.
According to MRC, the regional meeting, to take place on Nov. 26, 2019 in Phnom Penh, will discuss hydrological conditions and drought in the Mekong and the Drought Management Strategy for 2020-2025.
The Council is also scheduled to table for discussion the MRC’s annual work plan for next year and the preparation of next Basin Development Strategy for 2021-2030 and Strategic Plan for 2021-2025.
Every year, water and environment ministers of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam who are members of the MRC Council are convened to review and come to mutual conclusion on the management and development of water and related resources of the lower Mekong basin within the framework of the 1995 Mekong Agreement.
