AKP Phnom Penh, November 08, 2019 —
The U.S. ambassador to Cambodia H.E. W. Patrick Murphy has extended his wishes to all Cambodian people for the upcoming public holidays, including the Independence Day and Water Festival.
He made the wishes after a meeting with Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, in Phnom Penh this morning.
“I wish Deputy Prime Minister and all Cambodians a wonderful holiday weekend and congratulate Cambodia on celebrating the Independence Day and I also look forward to partaking in the Water Festival activities,” he said.
At the same time, the U.S. diplomat raised concern over public security and social order. “We know safety and security is important and we respect the responsibilities that the Deputy Prime Minister has for public safety and security,” he underlined.
According to the H.E. W. Patrick Murphy, the U.S. hopes that Cambodia can continue to make progress to achieve a full multi-party democracy in accordance with the Constitution and that all Cambodians whether they are inside or outside the country can participate in the political process even when they have different views.
