France provides technical assistance to Cambodia for its implementation of the national budget reform strategy
The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the French Ministry of Action and the Public Accounts on Monday held a meeting on the implementation of technical assistance for the implementation of the budget reform strategy 2018-2025.
The event was chaired by H.E. Vongsey Visoth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and H.E Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh, Ambassador of the Republic of France to Cambodia.
The purpose of this Technical Assistance Meeting is to announces the end of the first phase to define the concept and scope of cooperation based on two main principles: Cambodia’s ownership and the experience of French budget management reform in accordance with the Cambodian context, and the beginning of the implementation phase of technical assistance project to support the implementation of the reform strategy implication budget 2018-2025, as well as, the French short-term missions on a continuous basis.
H.E Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh said that the technical assistance project is a reflection of the economic and financial cooperation between the two countries, France and Cambodia. The technical assistance project aims to help shape the rules of a new public finance system and the related norms, budget and accounting management, to improve the management of public finances and the effectiveness of public expenditure with accountability.
H.E. Vongsey Visoth thanked the French Government for providing technical assistance to support the implementation of the national budget reform strategy, saying that the meeting marks the start of cooperation in the field of public finance management between the Royal Government of France and Cambodia, and reaffirmed the excellent relationship between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia and the French Ministry of Action and Public Accounts.
