Number of Tourists Visiting Battambang Province during Pchum Ben Festival Up 42%

A total of 129,380 tourists, most of them are Cambodians, visited Battambang northwestern province during the three-day holiday of Pchum Ben Festival or Festival for the Dead, from Sept. 27 to 29.

The figure represented an increase by 42 percent compared to the same period last year, underlined the Battambang Provincial Department of Tourism.

The popular tourist attractions of Battambang province are Phnom Banan, Phnom Sampov, Ek Phnom Temple, Barsaet Temple, Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary, Kamping Puoy Bassin, bamboo train (lorry) taking, and so on.

Meanwhile, Kampong Chhnang province attracted some 100,000 visitors to its 12 tourist sites across the province, while Kampong Speu province received 13,543 tourists, up 3.8 percent and Preah Vihear province, nearly 50,000 tourists, up 74.86 percent.

Not only Battambang, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Speu and Preah Vihear, other provinces also welcomed more and more visitors. The rise in the number of tourists both during national holidays and weekends is attributed to the full peace, safety, security, and development in all domains in the country.
