Cambodia Reacts Against Tempo’s News Article on Angkor Wat
AKP Phnom Penh, September 13, 2019 —
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Indonesia H.E. Hor Nambora has sent a letter to Bapak Wahyu Dhyatmika, Chief Editor of Tempo, an Indonesian weekly magazine, in reaction to a news item on Angkor Wat Temple.
“I found a news item with title ‘Ganjar Pranowo Punya Resep Candi Borobudur Lebih dari Angkor Wat” on your website on Sept. 12. It was wrongly mentioned two times in this article that Angkor Wat was in Thailand (in the first and second paragraphs). Everybody knows that Angkor Wat is in Cambodia. It is a world famous touristic site,” said H.E. Ambassador in his letter dated Sept. 12.
“After a close observation, your editor picked this story from Antara news agency. I saw it also. There was no mistake in Antara’s original article. I do not understand why your ignorant editor Rini Kustiani changed Cambodia to Thailand. Was it intentional?” he asked.
H.E. Hor Nambora asked Tempo to make corrections immediately on its website informing its readers that Angkor Wat is in Cambodia.
