Cambodia, Thailand Pledge to Strengthen Tourism Cooperation

Cambodia and Thailand has concluded the 5th tourism technical meeting with a pledge to enhance international tourists from the third countries.

The update was shared recently by H.E.Thong Rathsak, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Tourism.

In the three-day meeting held in Trat province of Thailand from August 17 to 19, he said, the two sides discussed tourism cooperation and relations, such as facilitation of travels of tourists, and improved visa process at the borders.

They also touched on direct flights from the Southern provinces in Thailand to Preah Sihanouk province betterment of maritime tourism, and single visa for travels within the bloc of ACMECS (Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy), including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Figures from Ministry of Tourism shows that Cambodia received 3.3 million of international tourists in the first half of 2019, up 11 percent compared to the same period last year, and Thai tourists visiting Cambodia increased by 9 percent to 174,241 during period.

Cambodia expects to receive about 400,000 Thai tourists by end of 2019.
