Siem Reap to Host REPfest in September

REPfest, a new traditional music festival, will be held in Siem Reap province, home to the famous ancient Angkor temples, from Sept. 5 to 8, 2019.

Organised by the Heritage Hub of Cambodia Living Arts in cooperation with Japan Foundation Asia Centre, Royal Thai Embassy in Cambodia, Alliance Française Siem Reap, Hard Rock Cafe Angkor … the event will gather artistes from countries along the Mekong River, including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam as well as Japan to share their experience and skills, under the Mekong-Japan cooperation.

At a recent press conference, Mr. Song Seng, President of Heritage Hub, the upcoming REPfest, the 2nd of its kind, is aimed to encourage participating artistes to continue doing more studies and researches in order to develop traditional music with creativity, and then to share with the audience what they have never seen and known.

Concerts, discussion forums, and workshops at different locations in Siem Reap cultural province will be part of the programme, said Mr. Song Seng, adding that the performance will be open for the public on Sept. 8.

According to the Heritage Hub president, the first REPfest took place successfully in 2017. The event will be held every two years in Siem Reap province.
