Cambodia Exports 281,538 Tons of Milled Rice in First Semester

Cambodia exported 281,538 tons of milled rice in the first six months of 2019, up 3.7 percent compared to the same period last year, official figure showed.

The report, shared recently by the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality, underlined that from January to June this year, Cambodia exported milled rice to 47 countries through 75 rice export agencies.

China is the Kingdom’s biggest rice market with 118,401 tons, representing 42 percent of the total export, the report reads, following by France in the second place importing 37,515 tons of milled rice from Cambodia.

The European Union (EU) imported 93,503 tons of milled rice from Cambodia, representing 33.21 percent of the total export, continued the report.

The source added that five countries –Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Singapore, and Thailand – in ASEAN, imported milled rice from Cambodia, and of them Malaysia was the biggest importer bringing in 13.936 tons of milled rice, or 12.78 percent of the total export volume during the mentioned period.

Of the exported milled rice, 237,097 tons are fragrant rice, 39,854 tons are white long-grain rice, and 4,587 tons are long-grain parboiled rice.

Last year, Cambodia exported some 630,000 tons of rice to international markets – a slight drop of 1.5 percent compared to the export in 2017.
