Pursat to Host Environment-Friendliness Awareness Creation Event
AKP Phnom Penh, June 24, 2019 —
Ministry of Environment has scheduled an awareness building event on environment-friendliness in Pursat province at the end of this month, June 30.
The announcement was shared recently by Ministry of Environment specifying that the planned gathering called “Together for Environment-Friendliness” will take place at the cultural city of Koh Sampov Meas.
Lying at the heart of Pursat city, Koh Sampov Meas is a sacred land floating in the middle of province’s river well known among domestic and international visitors.
The public awareness raising activity intends to further promote the understanding of youth, public, community people and beyond in order for them to engage in environment and bio-diversity conversation, and natural resource management, said the release.
Thanks to its richness of natural resources and biodiversity, Pursat province has been selected for the event.
Cambodia is a hub of biodiversity rich of plants, mammals, birds, fish and reptiles, and the Kingdom’s abundant forest are home to endemic plants, ecosystems, and endangered species.
The government has been working hard to increase the protected areas to 41 percent of Cambodia’s total land surface, understanding that biodiversity is not only a source of food and livelihoods for Cambodians, but it also represents vital social and cultural values.
The environment-friendliness movement is expected to contribute to further inspiring especially the young generation to better manage the resources toward sustainable development.
