AKP Phnom Penh June 19, 2019 —
Minister of Environment and French Ambassador to Cambodia have jointly planted trees to set “green” role model in the Kingdom.
H.E. Minister Say Samal and H.E. Ambassador Eva Nguyen Binh chose the tree-rich garden of French Embassy here in Phnom Penh to plant the tree yesterday – two weeks before the coming of Arbour Day celebration in Cambodia.
According to the Ministry of Environment Spokesperson H.E. Neth Pheaktra, the joint tree planting intends to covey key messages to the public especially the youth about importance of green environment as well as bio-diversity.
Thanking the good cooperation from Ministry of Environment, H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh underlined that environmental protection and response to climate change is a priority of various activities of France both in national and international frameworks.
Based on the embassy’s record, its garden has a total of 200 trees of 100 species and the care of the garden symbolises deep and historic friendship of Cambodia and France.
The tree planting event was also attended by students from a private French school in Phnom Penh named the Lycée français René Descartes de Phnom Penh and from schools of a child-focused non-governmental organisation Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE).
