AKP Phnom Penh, May 08, 2019 —
Over 5,000 national and international runners are expected to join the up-coming 9th Phnom Penh International Half Marathon on June 16.
The update was shared by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) in a press conference here in Phnom Penh yesterday, adding that more than 1,000 runners have by far been registered.
The NOCC secretary general continued that the event aims to cheer the observation of Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk’s birthday and to mobilise funds to support Kantha Bopha Children’s hospitals.
The marathon will be themed in a manner that promotes Cambodia’s tourism potentials and clean environment as well as the in-coming 32nd SEA Games in 2023 hosted by Cambodia.
To start and finish in front of the Royal Palace, the half marathon entails three challenges: 25, 10, and 3 kilometre running.
