Campaign for Capital, Provincial, Municipal, District and Khan Council Election To Begin in Mid-May

The National Election Committee (NEC) has announced that the upcoming campaign for the third Election of Capital, Provincial, Municipal, District and Khan Councils is scheduled to begin on May 17, 2019.
According to a NEC’s press release issued today, the campaign will last until May 24, from 6:00 am to 22:00 pm.
Each participating political party can hold parade or march only twice during the eight-day period, it said.
Loudspeakers are banned from noon to 2:00 pm and near hospitals or schools and other educational establishments, said the same source, adding that the election campaign must end 24 hours before the polling day.
Seven political parties will compete in the forthcoming election for the 559 seats of capital and municipal councils, and the 3,555 seats of municipal, district and Khan councils.
The third Election of Capital, Provincial, Municipal, District and Khan Councils, a universal suffrage, will take place in 228 polling stations across the nation, and only 11,572 commune/Sangkat councilors are eligible to vote.
