Cambodia’s First Gold Extraction Expected This Year

Indian-owned Mesco Gold is expected to begin its extraction this year – the move that will represent Cambodia’s first gold extraction, according to Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Mesco Gold was granted commercial license for gold production in Phum Syarung area of Rattanakiri province by the Royal Government of Cambodia.
H.E. Peng Navuth, Under Secretary of State at the ministry, said that besides Mesco Gold, Australia’s Renaissance Minerals is another licensed gold production firm and was expected to start its extraction next year.
The latter was authorised gold extraction operation in Okvau area of 11.5 square kilometres in Mondul Seima of Mondulkiri province.
As unveiled by the ministry, 50 exploration licenses and 20 mining licenses have been issued by the Royal Government.
