His Majesty the King Speaks Highly of NA’s and Government’s Efforts

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has lauded the efforts of the National Assembly (NA) and the Royal Government in leading the country towards peace and progress.

The monarch made the appreciation in a royal letter for the inaugural ceremony of the second session of the NA’s sixth legislature held here this morning under the chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of NA, with the participation of 113 lawmakers.

His Majesty the King also noted the close cooperation between NA and the Royal Government in protecting peace, stability, security and safety for the happiness of all people across the country, and in continuing the social and economic development focusing on good governance, human resource development, infrastructure investment in order to further enhance the people’s living standard and improve social protection system, especially for the poor and vulnerable.

His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni expressed his hope that the NA will continue to do its best to solve the people’s challenges so as to ensure harmony, peace, political stability and development in the Cambodian society.

According to a press release of the NA General Secretariat, beside the King’s message, the lawmakers listened to the report on NA’s activities between the first and second sessions of the sixth legislature read by H.E. Nguon Nhel, First Vice President of NA.

H.E. Ms. Li Vuoch Leng was elected as member of the Constitutional Council for 2019-2028, H.E. Prach Chan as member of the NA Commission on Human Rights, Complaint Reception, Investigation and Senate-NA Relations, and H.E. Chan Sophal as member of the NA Commission on Interior, National Defence, and Civil Service.

In addition, the NA decided to recognise the mandate of H.E. Mrs. Kim Sovanna as new lawmaker for Phnom Penh municipal constituency in replacement of H.E. Pa Socheatevong who resigned.
