Online Media in Cambodia on the Rise

AKP Phnom Penh, February 22, 2019 —

The number of online media in Cambodia has seen a remarkable increase, according to a report read by Secretary of State for Information H.E. Ouk Prathna, at the ministry’s annual meeting here this morning.

In total, 315 websites and TV online have been registered as of last year, it pointed out.

Besides, the report added, Cambodia had 439 newspapers, 194 magazines, 20 bulletins, 116 printing houses, 22 book institutions, 40 journalist associations, and 21 foreign news agencies, up to 2018.

For air broadcasting, there were 83 FM radio stations, an AM radio station, 137 provincial radio stations, 19 analogue TV stations, 8 digital TV stations, and 212 cable TVs.

The country also had 7 OTT (Over-the-top) system companies and 2 satellite TV stations.

The Ministry of Information’s annual meeting took place on Feb. 22 under the presidency of its Minister H.E Khieu Kanharith with the participation of the ministry’s officials from across the country.
