PM Congratulates Cambodian U-22 Team After Beating Myanmar Counterpart

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his congratulations to Cambodia national U-22 football team, after defeating Myanmar team 2:0, yesterday evening.

“Congratulations to the Cambodia national U-22 team who have played well against the Myanmar team in the AFF U22 Youth Championship 2019 […]. Thanks all compatriots, especially the youth, for your support for the sports sector and for coming to watch the match at the stadium and on TV. Wish more successes for the Cambodian national football team,” said the Premier in a Facebook post on Feb. 20.

This was the second victory of the Cambodia team in the AFF U22 Youth Championship 2019 after beating Malaysian team 1:0 on Feb. 18, 2019.

The Cambodia national U-22 team will move to the next round against Vietnam or Thailand.

Cambodia has been hosting the AFF U-22 Youth Championship 2019 from Feb. 17 to 26 at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, with the participation of teams of youth under the age of 22 years old from ASEAN countries.

Eight teams categorised into group A and B are joining the tournament. Group A comprises of Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste, and Group B includes Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia.
