2019 SEA Games To Include Six Sports Proposed by Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, November 27, 2018 —

As host country for the 30th SEA Games 2019, the Philippines has officially decided to include six sports proposed by Cambodia, along with the total 56 submitted.

The decision was made during a two-day meeting of the 30th SEA Games Competition Commission late last week in the Philippines.

According to H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), the six sports proposed by Cambodia are Taekwando, Vovinam, Petanque, Soft Tennis, Snooker and Jiu Jitsu.

In addition to the endorsement of the sports mentioned, the host country also accepted Cambodia’s request for U22 football match, added the NOCC secretary general.

As planned, official sports in the SEA Games will be announced on Dec. 7, 2018, and the tournament will last from Nov. 30 until Dec. 11, 2019.

Cambodia considers the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines and the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam as platforms for the country’s athletes to practice so as to improve their capacity toward the 2023 SEA Games that Cambodia will host.
