AKP Phnom Penh, September 13, 2019 —
Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA), with financial support from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), hosted a seminar on “Dissemination of Cambodia Sustainable Development Goals (CSDGs)” at Phnom Penh Hotel this morning.
The event was presided over by Mr. Rho Hyun Jun, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office and H.E. Ly Savuth, President of CAMKAA, with some 180 government officials from the relevant ministries in attendance.
SDGs is not only the Cambodia’s commitment issue, but also that of the world with 17 Goals with 169 targets as a monitoring system to be set for the “vision piece”, no one is be left behind, said Mr. Rho Hyun Jun, adding that KOICA is playing very important role for the achievement of the World 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the commitment of world piece “not left behind anyone”.
KOICA has set 4Ps core values promoting mutual development cooperation including; People (the wellbeing of all people), Prosperity (continued economic & technological growth), Peace (securing peace), and Planet (protection of the earth’s ecosystems), he continued.
In relation to the topic of CSDGs, three presentations on “Dissemination of Cambodia Sustainable Development Goals (CSDGs)”, “Lesson learn from Korea, Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation Learning and Accelerating Programme (GPEDC LAP)”, and “Women Right and Gender Policy Development” were made on the occasion.
According to its President H.E. Ly Savuth, CAMKAA is an association composted by Alumni students who used to study in Korea through training and graduate programme of KOICA. Every year, CAMKAA delivers activities for social development inducting social voluntary activity, organising workshops and seminars and related campaigns. This association is supported by KOICA under scheme of Technical Assistant and contribution from its members.
H.E. Ly Savuth added that this year of 2019 is last mandate of CAMKAA Executive Committee (2017-2019) and CAMKAA will conduct the Election for seeking the Applicants to Stand for CAMKAA Executive Committee in year (2020-2022) on Nov. 1, 2019. The Executive Committee is comprised of seven members: President(1), Vice President(1), Secretary(1), Treasurer(1), Auditor(1) and Public Relation Officers(2). He welcomed any participant who interested in the mentioned positions to be part of CAMKAA Executive Committee, to apply the only one position by sending their CV to CAMKAA or KOICA from Oct. 1, 2019.
KOICA has so far provided Cooperation Project and Technical Assistance for Cambodia. For the Technical Assistance, KOICA offers the invitational training programme to human resources development in Cambodia since 1991 via various capacities training programmes such scholarship of master degree programme, global and country training. Every year, KOICA provides scholarship and training to more than a hundred of government officials in the fields of Agriculture and Rural Development, Education, Health, Industry and Energy, Administrative System and Information & Communication Technology (ICT).
