Cambodian PM Receives Finnish Minister for Development Cooperation

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held talks with Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland, H.E. Ville Skinnari in Geneva, Switzerland yesterday, on the sidelines of the Aid-for-Trade Global Review 2019.
According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to Prime Minister, in the meeting, H.E. Ville Skinnari said Finland is seeking to open a honorary consulate in Cambodia to promote the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
H.E. Ville Skinnari congratulated Cambodia on its economic progress and expressed Finland’s interest to help the Kingdom in waste management.
For this part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Finland for its support to Cambodia’s energy and encouraged the Finnish side to study investment opportunity in other sectors, including the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Cambodia wants to see Finnish investments in the country and Finland expand its markets for Cambodian products, he underlined.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister welcomed Finland’s interest to invest in waste management in Cambodia, but, he said, the interested company must respect the Royal Government’s policy of not importing waste from other countries and of converting local waste into energy or paper, etc.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended an invitation to Finnish leaders, though H.E. Ville Skinnari, to attend the ASEM Summit to be hosted by Cambodia in 2020.
