Leaders of Some 40 Nations to Attend the ASEM Summit 2020 in Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, July 29, 2019 —

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, said some 40 leaders from Europe and Asia will gather at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in 2020.

While visiting the construction site of Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said leaders of some 40 countries will attend the ASEM 2020 to be hosted by Cambodia.

ASEM was established in 1996. It is a high-level political dialogue held every two years to improve relations between participating states.

Beside the ASEM Summit in 2020, Cambodia will also take over the ASEAN chairmanship in 2022 and host the SEA Games in 2023. The Premier thus asked all concerned ministries and institutions to well prepare for the events.

Cambodia has planned to organise the ASEAN Summits in 2022 in Siem Reap cultural province and Preah Sihanouk coastal province, but now all the summits will be held in Phnom Penh, according to the new decision made the Premier.
