China Supports Cambodia to Be Host of ASEM Summit in 2020
AKP Phnom Penh, October 19, 2018 —
Chinese Premier H.E. Li Keqiang expressed China’s support to Cambodia to be the next host of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in 2020.
According to the National Television of Kampuchea (TVK), the Chinese leader affirmed the support while holding a bilateral talk with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in Brussels, Belgium on Oct. 18, on the sidelines of the 12th ASEM Summit.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen invited H.E. Li Keqiang to attend the 13th ASEM Summit in Cambodia in 2020.
The Chinese Premier congratulated Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his reelection as Prime Minister of Cambodia and expressed his intention to see more progress in the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Both leaders exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral cooperation and regional and global issues of common interests, especially the ASEAN-China relations, as well as the export of Cambodian products, mainly rice, to China.
