30th SEA Games: Cambodia Wins First Gold Medal

Cambodia this afternoon got the first gold medal from the 30th SEA Games being hosted by the Philippines.

The gold medal was earned by Mr. Yang Mengly in Arnis event.

As of now, Cambodia won in total 13 medals – one gold, three silver and nine bronze. Of the total medals, one silver was obtained in Hoop Takraw event and the rest in Arnis event.

Cambodia is now ranked 7th among the eleven countries participating in the 30th SEA Games. The host country tops the list with 27 gold medals, followed by Vietnam (10 gold medals) and Thailand (6 gold medals).

Cambodia sent more than 400 sports delegates to join the SEA Games 2019 in the Philippines. The Cambodian athletes will compete in many sports events such as taekwondo, Khmer boxing, tennis, wrestling, beach volleyball, U22 football, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis, badminton, martial arts, golf, sailing, Karate,  etc.

Of the total sports delegates, 57 are sports officials who will draw experience from the Philippines in organising this biennial regional games.

Cambodia is going to host the 32nd SEA Games in 2023.
