Public Preschool Management Guideline Kick-Started
AKP Phnom Penh, October 01, 2019—
Ministry of Education Youth and Sport this morning launched Cambodia’s public preschool management guideline in order to further promote the early education system.
Taking place here in Phnom Penh, the launch of the first guideline was chaired by H.E Kim Sethany, Secretary of State of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and participated by concerned officials at national and sub-national level as well as development partner representatives.
In her address, the secretary of state underlined that school management is currently a priority agenda in Cambodia’s education reform.
The education ministry’s 2019-2023 strategic action plan, she added, is committed to build human resources with quality and virtue to lead the society with knowledge, and this starts with effective preschool management.
H.E Kim Sethany took the opportunity to thanks technical departments in charge of early child education at all levels, relevant local officials and authorities, and the World Bank to make the guideline possible.
According to UNICEF, Cambodia has made remarkable progress in child education with doubled number of children enrolled in preschool programmes.
There are however some remaining gaps, it added, as only around 43 percent of children aged 3 to 5 years are enrolled in early childhood education for academic year 2017-2018.
With this noted, Royal Government of Cambodia as well as Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and concerned institutions are working hard to further promote early childhood care and development, including the school management to attract and build confidence among parents and children in the public preschool service.
