“The Royal Government of Cambodia’s Spokesperson Unit expresses its congratulations to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on April 25, 2019, for being conferred with the title of “Honorary Professor in International Relations” by Peking University of the People’s Republic of China.

Such a title reaffirms the recognition of the capability of the Prime Minister’s strategic leadership of diplomacy in globalisation in which he has transformed Cambodia from isolation into an independent, sovereign, and unified state under a single constitution with the most revered His Majesty the King representing the symbol of national unity and sustainability.

The Spokesperson Unit understands that the qualification of Samdech Techo Prime Minister has been confirmed and demonstrated through the peace, stability and prosperity of the people and nation which is the acknowledged record in 500 years since the post-Angkorian era.

The Spokesperson understands that the conferring of such a title is another recognition of Samdech Techo’s ingenuity and intellect in the pursuit of good relations and international cooperation, while ensuring national independence and sovereignty and providing the opportunities for international contributions, especially from China which is Cambodia’s largest trading partner who has generously contributed to Cambodia’s economic growth of 7.7 percent per annum.

Moreover, such conferring of the title is a testament of good relationships and even stronger relationships between Cambodia and China at regional and global levels, especially since the two countries reached the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation in December 2010, as well as both nations’ contribution to regional development.

The Spokesperson highly appreciates the right decision of the Cambodian people who voted for the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen as Prime Minister. The people’s decision has gained benefit in return and there is more fruitful to come in the future as well. Such a title also sends a strong diplomatic message to the international arena that the Kingdom of Wonder is not only a safe and secure international tourist and investment destination, but also a venue for the world-class summits held in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap at the historic Site of Angkor, and by 2020, Cambodia will host the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

The Spokesperson, along with the people of the whole country, applaud Samdech Techo, who has sacrificed himself for the cause of the nation and the people of Cambodia, starting from scratch until the nation obtained full peace,  national reconciliations, prosperity, along with building good relations with countries, both in the region and around the globe, as well as contributing actively with the United Nations in the protection of global peace and prosperity, all of which is strong testimony for the Premier being conferred such a title of Honorary Professor in International Relations.”
