ECCC Sentences Case 002/02 of Former Khmer Rouge Leaders to Life Imprisonment for Genocide

AKP Phnom Penh, November 16, 2018—

The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) this morning decides to sentence Nuon Chea, 92, former Khmer Rouge Deputy Secretary of Cambodian Communist Party and Khieu Samphan, 87, head of state during the brutal regime from 1975 to 1979, officially known as Democratic Kampuchea and both of them are the most senior surviving leaders of former Khmer Rouge regime, to life imprisonment for genocide and other crimes against humanity.
