AKP Phnom Penh, November 14, 2018 —

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said China is an indispensable strategic partner of ASEAN, according to his official Facebook page.

In his keynote address focusing on the review of ASEAN-China cooperation and future direction at the 21st ASEAN-China Summit held in Singapore this morning, the Cambodian Premier affirmed Cambodia’s strong belief that China is an indispensable strategic partner of ASEAN at any circumstances and contexts.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also hoped that this relationship will be more intimate and long-lasting under the spirit of common interests and sustainable development for all.

Meanwhile, the Cambodian Prime Minister raised four key points in the framework of further strengthening and expanding cooperation between ASEAN-China.

First, Cambodia supports the Declaration on the ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership Vision 2030 and the Joint Declaration on Science, Technology and Innovation, which will further promote more cooperation.

Second, Cambodia welcomes the identification of 2019 as the ASEAN-China Media Exchange Year with the hope that ASEAN members and China will prioritise the implementation of information-related activities and projects in order to promote understanding on ASEAN-China relations in all areas.

Third, Cambodia highly appreciated the strengthening of China’s cooperation in connectivity and China’s continued support for the implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025, in particular the efforts to explore, integrate and complement each other between the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity and the One Belt, One Road Initiative.

Lastly, Cambodia supports the continuation of strengthening and expanding the scope of cooperation in trade, investment and tourism between ASEAN and China to a higher level to promote our sustainable economic and social development.
