Promoting SMEs’ Exports of Agricultural Products to China

AKP Phnom Penh, November 07, 2018 —

Competent government officials, farmer representatives, exporters have gathered to share information and procedure for Cambodian agricultural product exports to China among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Taking place yesterday here in Phnom Penh, the one-day consultation was organised by German development agency known in short as GIZ.

Mr. Ker Monthivuth, Director of the Department of Plant Protection at Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries was positive that the event serves as a platform for information sharing and networking to link up the supplies and demands to further promote exports of Cambodian agricultural products.

Mr. Claudius Bredehoft, senior advisor at GIZ Cambodia, echoed the insight, adding that his agency supports the public-private dialogue to boost exports among SMEs to especially potential markets in China.

“It can not only strengthen the inclusion of Cambodia SMEs in regional value chains, but also improve the implementation of international standards in the country,” he added.

According to GIZ, by far, Cambodia sees opportunities of exporting banana, mango and longan to China through ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement.
