Cambodia Standing Firm against Counterfeit Medicines

Royal Government of Cambodia has demonstrated firm stance in combating falsified and substandard medicines in the country and beyond.

The remarks were highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng when presiding over the closing ceremony of the Regional Conference on Combating Falsified and Substandard Medicines yesterday here in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Sar Kheng continued that the falsified and substandard medicines are circulated globally and harming people’s health, and Cambodia is one of the affected countries.

This problem demands collective efforts among regional countries, especially the Mekong River nations, to timely address, added the deputy prime minister.

He spoke highly of the conference that plays a key role in promoting extra attention on the issue and identifying urgent solutions for it among the regional countries.

The two-day event, participated by Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, defined mechanisms to raise public awareness of the counterfeit medicines and their harmful implication, and to join hands in eliminating them.
