Samdech Techo Hun Sen receives a courtesy call from his excellency Binaly Yidirim, President of the National Assembly and Former Turkish Prime Minister to attend the opening of Cambodia-Turkey Economic Forum

On the afternoon of October 20, the first day of a working visit to Istanbul, the Turkish Republic, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, paid a courtesy call including work discussion, and lunch with His Excellency Mr. Binali Yidirim, President of the National Assembly and former Turkish Prime Minister. Before the lunch party, the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Turkish National Assembly Chairman met in front of each other for in-depth discussions on solidarity and The cooperation between the two countries. Cambodia and Turkey have become stronger and more prosperous, especially through the planning of creating an embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia at the Republic of Turkey as soon as possible after the Turkish nation has opened theirs in Phnom Penh in 2013. During the face-to-face meeting, Samdech Techo and His Excellency Speaker of the Council of Ministers discussed thoroughly the promotion of diplomatic relations, exchange of views on promoting trade relations, investment, tourism and other sectors including promoting direct flights from Turkey to the Kingdom of Cambodia to boost the growth of commercial tourism, resolution and investment. Samdech Techo Prime Minister and his excellency President of National Assembly of Turkey also discussed closely on bilateral issues, multilateral issues regional and international issues, especially trust and mutual assistance in bilateral and multilateral framework and international ones that benefit each other. Samdech Techo Prime Minister also said to His Excellency Mr. Binali Yidirim that He always wanted to come to Turkey since Turkey is a territory of Asia and Europe connectivity and considered this as a historic visit, and the first Cambodian Premier to visit the Republic of Turkish. During the discussion, Samdech Techo Primer and His Excellency Mr. Binali Yidirim exchanged opinions on promoting the exchange of visits from all levels of the two countries to promote the cooperation of both countries. After the meeting, Samdech Techo Prime Minister and His Excellency President of National Assembly relaxed at the Government House in Istanbul, enjoying the sea view and having a work meal. His Excellency Mr. Binali Yidirim expresses his warmest welcome to Samdech Techo Prime Minister and the Royal Government of Cambodia’s High Delegations of the Royal Government of Cambodia for choosing Turkey for the first working visit in the history of the country’s relation which has reached 20 years of friendship. The President of the National Assembly has agreed to the visit of Samdech Techo Prime Minister to promote the exchange of visits from all levels in order to promote the cooperation of the two countries to be more prosperous.

Afterwards, His Excellency Mr. Binali Yidirim, President of the National Assembly and the former Prime Minister of Turkey, organized a midday lunch session to Samdech Techo Prime Minister and the Delegation of Cambodia that went to working visit in Istanbul, Turkey. It should be emphasized that Turkey and Cambodia have long been a civilized country in which Cambodia is known through the Angkor Empire and Turkey is known by Byzantine and then Ottoman. Although the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Turkey have diplomatic relations for more than two decades, the two countries’ relations are firmly based on principles, mutual trust, respect and not interfere with internal affairs, especially support each other on economic, social, political and diplomatic issues. In fact, the two countries have been supporting each other’s in various international institutions.

Later that afternoon, Samdech Techo Primer also presided over the launch of the Turkish Business Forum. The Turkish-Cambodian Business Forum, held at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, is attended by senior figures from the government, the private sector of Turkey, other dignitaries and businesspeople. In this meaningful ceremony, after listening to the interventions from business economics leader and Turkish business leaders, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, delivered a keynote address during the ceremony about opening the Turkish-Cambodian Business Forum. 

Afterwards, Samdech Techo Hun Sen witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Chamber of Commerce of Cambodia with Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Chamber of Commerce with the President of Turkey Chamber of Commerce for a prosperous solidarity between the two institutions.
