Cambodia Marks World Food Day in Kampong Cham Province

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in collaboration with World Food Programme (WFP) and Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations celebrated here yesterday the World Food Day under the theme “Our Actions Are Our Future. A #ZeroHunger World by 2030 is possible.”
This event, taking place in Stung Trang district, Kampong Cham province was presided over by H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of MAFF, Ms. Francesca Erdelmann, Country Representative of WFP and Mr. Alexandre Huynh, Representative of FAO in Cambodia.
On the occasion, H.E. Veng Sakhon encouraged all stakeholders to work together to achieve the goal of zero hunger by 2030 by pushing for the elaboration and implementation of the “Master Plan for Agricultural Development towards 2030” and “Agriculture Strategic Development Plan 2019-2023”.
H.E. Minister also called for the increase in productivity, quality and diversification of agricultural products by augmenting investment in research and development of seeds, animal species and fish farming; for the promotion of processing industry through boosting private investment on potential crops; for the improvement of agricultural commercialisation by continuing to strengthen sanitary and phytosanitary system, and so on.
