Cambodia Gets a Gold Medal at Petanque World Championships 2018 in France

AKP Phnom Penh, October 11, 2018 —

Cambodian petanque heroines, Ke Leng and Ouk Sreymom, have won a gold medal in Women’s Doubles at the petanque world championships (Trophée l’Equipe de pétanque) being held in Tours, France from Oct. 9 to 14.

According to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, only best petanque players from each region were invited to this international competition.

Ms. Ouk Sreymom was named the world champion of petanque in 2017 at a competition held in Belgium while Ms. Ke Leng earned her first and second world champion recognitions in 2013 in France and in 2015 in Thailand.

At the 29th SEA Games held in Malaysia last year, they also got a gold medal in the Women’s Double Final.

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, via his official Facebook page, expressed his congratulations to the two Cambodian petanque heroines who keep bringing pride to the nation.

Cambodia has dispatched six athletes to compete in this international sport event.
