Phnom Penh To Add Five More City Bus Routes

AKP Phnom Penh, September 20, 2018 —

Phnom Penh capital hall is increasing city bus routes to 13 from current 8 thanks to the emerging demand for the service.

According to the capital hall, the five additional city bus routes will begin their operation in October this year.

The expansion of the public transportation service is made possible through the donation of Japanese government with 140 buses to the Royal Government of Cambodia

Worth a total amount of about US$8 million, the first batch of donated buses arrived in Cambodia in June 2018.

The up-scale of Phnom Penh’s public transportation has been seen as an effective measure to address happening busy road traffic.

Phnom Penh launched its first public bus service in 2014 and 157 city buses are operating along current eight routes, serving about 20,000 passengers every day.
