Angkor Resort Generates Over US$78 Million in First Eight Months

During the first eight months of 2018, Cambodia’s Angkor Archaeological Park earned some US$78,778,208 as state income – up 13.79 percent compared with the same period of 2017 –from its entrance ticket sales.


The figures were released recently by the Angkor Enterprise, a state-owned institution in charge of Angkor income management, adding that the entrance ticket were sold to 1,744,704 foreign tourists (an increase by 8.49 percent) during the period.


Of the total income, US$3,489,408 was donated to Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals, it continued.


In August alone, the entrance tickets were sold to 201,865 foreign tourists – an increase of 4.92 percent – generating US$9,113,340 (up 3.08 percent) and US$403,730 of the amount was used to support the children’s hospital.


Angkor Archaeological Park houses many world-renowned ancient temples, including Angkor Wat Temple which tops the list of the Best Landmarks and the 13th world’s best tourist destination in 2018 thanks to millions of votes from tourists around the world – an exercise initiated by TripAdvisor.


The Khmer ancient sacred temple was also crowned No. 1 among the top 10 landmarks for 2017 by this world’s largest travel site.
