Ruling Party President Thanks His Compatriots

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), expressed thanks to all his compatriots who went to vote today.

“Thank you, dear compatriots, for casting your votes today! You did choose the democratic way and used your right as stipulated in the constitution, the supreme law of the country,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page.

According to a report from the National Election Committee (NEC), by 3:00 pm, the time for closing all polling stations and beginning the ballot counting, 80.49 percent of the eligible voters, equivalent to about 6,744,893 people, went to vote, he added.

“I would like to extend my profound thanks to all citizens who took part in the parliamentary election and choose their respective favorite political parties,” he said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also encouraged the public to follow up the announcement of the election results on the National Television and Radio stations.

The NEC’s latest update shows that the turnout rate of the 6th National Election is 82.17 percent or 6.88 million of the 8.38 million eligible voters.
