Senior Officials Express Dismay over U.S Parliament’s Decision

AKP Phnom Penh, July 27, 2018 —

Senior officials have expressed dismay over the decision of the U.S parliament to freeze the assets of 16 Cambodian government’s officials and ban their travel to the states.

The disappointment was made by Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, and the spokespersons for Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and for the government H.E. Sok Eysan and H.E. Phay Siphan.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, the Cambodian senior officials considered the decision as an ill intention to pressure Cambodian ruling party CPP entrusted by majority of Cambodians to lead the country.

The reaction followed the approval of U.S. parliament of its draft law on Cambodia Democracy Act of 2018 on July 25 to suggest U.S President Donald Trump to unfairly punish the 16 Cambodian senior officials.
