No Alcohol Sale and Consumption One Day Before and During Election

AKP Phnom Penh, July 13, 2018 — 

The Royal Government of Cambodia has banned alcohol sale and consumption a day before and during the forthcoming general elections. 

Applicable for both Cambodians and foreigners in the Kingdom, the ban issued by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen intends to ensure a violence-free polling. 

In the notification, Samdech Techo Prime Minister ordered government’s competent authorities to thoroughly take necessary measures on, including wide circulation of the notice among the public. 

The temporary prohibition of alcohol sale and consumption aims not only to mitigate violence and intimidation, but also to avoid road accidents, particularly among people travelling to vote, added the Premier.

Cambodia is expecting the sixth-mandate parliamentary election on July 29 and twenty political parties have registered and running campaign for the race.
